Expansion valve

Expansion valve is generally installed between liquid storage cylinder and evaporator.
The expansion valve makes liquid refrigerant of medium temperature and high pressure
throttled through it into low temperature and low pressure, and controls valve flow rate.
In refrigeration system, the expansion valve is one of the four main components.
It mainly plays the role of throttling and reducing pressure and regulating flow.
At the same time, it also has the function of preventing wet compression and liquid shock
protection of compressor and abnormal overheating.Operating principle of expansion valve
is to use the interaction between disc and the spring in the valve body to achieve flow regulation

How does the expansion valve adapt to the rapid changes in the refrigeration system load?

Perception and response mechanism
The expansion valve integrates a highly sensitive temperature sensor package, which is usually installed at the outlet of the evaporator and directly exposed to the refrigerant airflow. When the refrigeration system load changes rapidly, the refrigerant temperature and superheat in the evaporator will fluctuate accordingly. The temperature sensor package can quickly capture these tiny temperature changes and convert them into pressure signals through the internal thermistor. This conversion process is completed almost instantly, providing the premise for the rapid response of the expansion valve.

Dynamic flow regulation
Once the temperature sensor package senses the temperature change and generates a corresponding pressure signal, this signal will be transmitted to the diaphragm assembly of the expansion valve through the capillary tube. The diaphragm assembly is the core control element inside the expansion valve. It automatically adjusts the position of the valve needle according to the balance between the pressure signal transmitted by the temperature sensor package and the spring force, thereby changing the opening degree of the throttle hole. When the system load increases, the refrigerant demand in the evaporator increases, and the temperature sensed by the temperature sensor package rises, resulting in an increase in pressure above the diaphragm, pushing the valve needle upward, increasing the opening degree of the throttle hole, and allowing more refrigerant to enter the evaporator. On the contrary, when the load decreases, the opening degree of the throttle hole decreases accordingly, reducing the refrigerant flow rate.

Stability and adaptability
The expansion valve is designed with full consideration of the stability and adaptability requirements of the system. On the one hand, by optimizing the response characteristics of the temperature sensor and the sensitivity of the diaphragm assembly, the expansion valve can make rapid adjustments when the load changes rapidly to avoid large fluctuations in the system. On the other hand, the expansion valve also has a certain self-regulation ability, which can automatically adapt to different working conditions within a certain range to ensure that the system always operates in the best state.

High efficiency and energy saving
The high efficiency and energy saving characteristics of the expansion valve are also an important manifestation of its adaptation to the rapid changes in the load of the refrigeration system. By accurately controlling the flow of the refrigerant, the expansion valve can ensure that the refrigerant in the evaporator fully evaporates and absorbs heat, while avoiding energy waste caused by excessive accumulation of refrigerant. In addition, the expansion valve can also automatically adjust the supply of refrigerant according to the changes in the system load, so that the system can reduce energy consumption at low loads and improve refrigeration efficiency at high loads, thereby optimizing the overall energy efficiency.

Intelligent development trend
The expansion valve is constantly innovating and upgrading with the advancement of refrigeration technology. Modern expansion valves have more advanced sensing technology and control algorithms, which can more accurately sense changes in system load and make corresponding adjustments. At the same time, some high-end expansion valves also integrate remote monitoring and fault diagnosis functions, and can be connected to remote control systems through the Internet to achieve remote monitoring and adjustment. These intelligent features not only improve the adaptability and stability of expansion valves, but also provide strong support for the intelligent management and maintenance of refrigeration systems.
