Oil gauge

The oil gauge is an instrument used to measure pressure change of
oil circuit in refrigeration unit. It can accurately display the
oil pressure in unit, timely feedback to operator to judge and adjust.
The oil gauge is one of the common instruments in the refrigeration system.
Its function is to display the high and low pressure conditions in refrigeration
system.it can reflect the refrigerant content, flow rate and temperature
of the refrigeration system. Through reading of the oil meter, we can
confirm important information such as whether the compressor in the
refrigeration system is operating normally and whether the refrigeration
effect is normal. At the same time, through readings in emergency situations,
it can also be initially judged whether there are some fault factors in system,
providing important guidance for subsequent maintenance work.

Oil gauge Industry knowledge

How does the oil gauge achieve close integration with the refrigeration system?

1. Mechanical structure design
The mechanical integration of the oil gauge and the refrigeration system is the first step. During the design phase, engineers will accurately design the mechanical interface of the oil gauge based on the specific structure of the refrigeration unit, the layout of the oil circuit, and the installation position of the oil gauge. These interfaces include connectors with the oil pipeline, fixed brackets, and possible shock absorbers to ensure that the oil gauge can work stably during the operation of the unit without affecting the smooth flow of the oil circuit.

2. Sensor selection and installation
The core of the oil gauge lies in its internal sensor, which is responsible for converting the oil pressure signal into a processable electrical signal. In the refrigeration system, commonly used oil pressure sensors include piezoresistive, capacitive or piezoelectric types. These sensors have the characteristics of high sensitivity, high precision and long life, and can accurately measure the pressure changes in the oil circuit. The installation location of the sensor is usually selected at the key nodes of the oil circuit, such as the oil pump outlet, before and after the oil filter, etc., in order to obtain the most representative oil pressure data.

3. Electronic control system integration
The integration of the oil gauge and the electronic control system of the refrigeration system is the key to achieve real-time monitoring and instant feedback. Modern refrigeration units generally use microprocessors or PLCs (programmable logic controllers) as control centers, and connect various sensors, actuators, oil gauges and other components through bus technology to form a complete control system network. As a node in the network, the oil gauge communicates with the control system through a standard data interface and transmits the collected oil pressure data to the control system in real time. The control system evaluates the operating status of the refrigeration unit based on the received data, and issues control instructions when necessary to adjust the working parameters of the unit to ensure the stable operation of the unit.

4. Data processing and display
The oil gauge is not only responsible for collecting oil pressure data, but also has data processing and display functions. After receiving the electrical signal from the sensor, the microprocessor inside the oil gauge will amplify, filter, and convert these signals to digital signals. Subsequently, the processor analyzes the digital signal according to the preset algorithm, calculates the actual oil pressure value, and displays it on the display screen of the oil gauge. In order to facilitate the operator's observation, the display screen usually adopts a high-brightness, high-contrast design to ensure that the oil pressure data can be clearly displayed under different lighting conditions.

5. Fault warning and alarm
In addition to real-time monitoring and display of oil pressure data, the oil gauge also has fault warning and alarm functions. When the oil pressure exceeds the preset normal range, the oil gauge will immediately send out an audible and visual alarm signal to alert the operator. At the same time, the oil gauge will also transmit the fault information to the control system, and the control system will take corresponding protection measures according to the fault type, such as shutdown protection, emergency unloading, etc., to prevent the fault from further expanding and causing damage to the refrigeration unit.
